SWOT analysis is often used to help define (or refine) problem statements, clarify business needs, prioritize (or group) requirements, help make decisions, etc. Evaluating strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats (SWOT) is a common-sense approach to sizing up the viability of a business process, determining the priority of business needs, and developing the right solution. Effective SWOT analysis requires that the business analyst bring the right stakeholders to the table and capture the discussion in a document that is easy to understand.
